SURINA PILLAY, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Substance Abuse Counselor

Surina Pillay is an established healthcare provider in Tallahassee, Florida.  Ms. Pillay is an experienced Addiction Counselor and a Certified DOT Screening Test Technician.  She counsels patients in alcoholism, drug addiction and behavioral related problems associated with substance use disorder.

Ms. Pillay graduated from Illinois State University in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science degree. She became a Certified Addition Counselor after helping her brother with a longtime opiate addiction.  Her medical specialization is substance use disorder.  Ms. Pillay is a court approved provider and is experienced in substance abuse assessments, evaluations and treatment planning.  
Ms. Pillay founded both Anchor Treatment Center and Anchor Recovery Foundation (a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation) in 2018, and co-founded Demp House sober living in 2021 with DJ DEMP of Tallahassee, Florida.  Ms. Pillay advocates for overdose prevention, holistic approaches to substance abuse treatment, and drug treatment versus incarceration.

DR. JAMES PFEIFER, PSYCHIATRIST, DO

Psychiatrist 

Dr. Pfeifer sees referred adult patients for medication management of all major psychiatric disorders. Dr. Pfeifer's specialties include anxiety disorders, depression, bipolar disorder, PTSD, OCD, eating disorders, sleep disorders, psychosis, schizophrenia, sexual dysfunction, and substance use disorders. He believes in a comprehensive approach to overall wellness, and routinely engages other specialists including primary care and therapists.

ISACC CUYLER, MSW, CAP

Clinical Director, Substance Abuse Counselor

Mr. Cuyler has a Master's degree in Criminal Justice with a concentration in Substance Abuse and is a Certified Addiction Professional (CAP).  He has a broad career in substance abuse counseling, mental health counseling and supervision.  He is experienced in the adult and juvenile population and has a passion for individuals struggling with addiction and mental health disorders. 

RONALD COPE

Recovery Coach

Mr. Cope is a Recovery Coach with 11 years of sobriety from substance abuse. He has over 8 years managing sober living houses and is a Masters level coach. His passion is to help individuals live a clean and sober life so that they can achieve their goals long-term.

COURTNEY GREEN

Lab Technician

Courtney Green is a nursing student at Tallahassee Community College. He is completing a laboratory technician internship with Anchor and is responsible for collecting urine specimens from donors at our treatment facility and at our sober living house.  He is also responsible for processing instant tests and/or preparing specimens for transport for confirmations to the laboratory for testing via courier service or overnight delivery. 

NAELA LUNA

Administrative Assistant

Ms. Luna is a graduate student at Florida State University and is experienced in data processing, assessment reports, billing and insurance claims. She is responsible for scheduling appointments, intake, greeting patients, and maintaining organized file systems for our treatment center.

LEAH LUNA

Counseling Intern

Ms. Luna is a senior at Florida State University with a major in psychology.  She is a counseling  intern and works closely with our mental health staff under our clinical supervisor.  She has a passion for drug treatment and mental health services.

PHYLLIS BURKHART

Volunteer

Mr. Burkhart has volunteered over many years in various capacities within the UWBB umbrella and has a passion for community.  She began volunteering with Anchor in 2018 with efforts to help raise funds for sober living and children affected by addiction.
